Eligible to Retire?
Have you started your retirement planning? Retirement is a major event in the life of an individual and it needs to be planned. Research tells us that planning should begin five years before the actual date of retirement but it's never too late to begin.
As well as informing your school board of your decision to move on to the next stage in your life, you need to contact some other agencies:
The Retired Teachers of Ontario
The Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan
The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan
The Ontario College of Teachers
The Catholic Principals' Council of Ontario

The Retired Teachers of Ontario is the official voice for all retired persons in Ontario in receipt of a pension administered by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board. To learn more about this organization visit their website:

Apply for the Ontario Teachers' Pension
Three months in advance of your retirement date contact the Teachers' Pension Plan (TPP) at 416-226-2700 or 1-800-668-0105 to obtain your personalized pension application form.

Notify the Ontario College of Teachers
Contact the Ontario College of Teachers at 416-961-8800 or 1-888-534-2222 and ask them to send you a Notice of Retirement Form.

Notify The Catholic Principals' Council of Ontario
Contact CPCO at 416-483-1556 or 1-888-621-9190 and inform them of your retirement date. Apply for associate membership in order to keep current on issues in Catholic education and in order to continue insurance benefits through Johnson Inc.

Benefits
At least four months prior to your retirement date, contact Johnson Inc. the administrator for the CPCO benefits package. Discuss the effective date of termination for your Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD).
