To support Catholic school leaders, new to the role of principal or vice-principal, in creating and sustaining safe, compassionate and healthy schools, CPCO is offering a one day conference on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Marriott Toronto Airport Hotel. The program was designed by practicing principals and vice-principals and developed through the lens of Catholic leadership.
A specific focus will be on restorative justice. Changes stemming from Bill 212 will also be emphasized. Eric Roher of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP will make a presentation on two important issues: the duty to report and the need for appropriate documentation of situations and events.
Participation at this learning opportunity is limited. CPCO will subsidize members to attend. Each school board is encouraged to send two new school administrators to the conference.
Please complete the registration form and return it to Patty Orecchio no later than Friday, December 5, 2008. Click here for the registration form.
The Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario in an innovative partnership with the Ontario Principals’ Council, the Women’s Directorate, the Ministry of Education and Springtide Resources, has contributed to the development of an excellent workshop and resource. A group of our Catholic principals have been trained as facilitators. They have been prepared to lead their colleagues in a one-hour workshop designed specifically for principals to help raise their awareness and to assist them in identifying the signs of domestic violence and the impact it can have on student learning. To book this important one hour presentation for a principals’ meeting please contact Barbara McMorrow at bmcmorrow@cpco.on.ca.
