Election Process

Elections for the CPCO provincial Executive Council will take place at the Annual General Meeting on April 9, 2011 in Toronto, Ontario. In accordance with the CPCO constitution, the Annual Meeting will be a delegated meeting. The following items apply:


1) What positions are open for election?

There are 7 positions open for election:

President-Elect (Elementary)

2 Councillors (Elementary)

Vice-President (Secondary)

2 Councillors (Secondary)

Treasurer (either panel)

 

 2) Who can stand for election?

All Regular members shall be entitled to stand for election for any office within the Association.

3) Who can vote?

All Regular members of the Executive Council shall be elected through a democratic vote by the registered Delegates at the Annual General Meeting.

4) How is a person nominated to stand for election?

Nominations for the Executive Council shall be received on or before March 4, 2011.

5) Is there a step-down process?

Yes. Article 8.2 of the CPCO Constitution provides for a step-down process.

The deadline for nominations to be received is 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011. The slate of candidates will be posted on the CPCO website by Friday, March 11, 2011.

Please note that nominations from the floor will not be accepted.
