Canada’s Outstanding Principals

The Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario congratulates the following members on being named as Canada’s Outstanding Principals for 2009; Nancy Allaire, Mike Courchesne, John Burroughs, and Ted Laxton. These recipients are among the 31 principals in the country who have been recognized for their leadership in education by The Learning Partnership.

Nancy Allaire is principal of Our Lady of Sorrows School in Sturgeon Falls. Mike Courchesne is principal of St. Gregory School in Powassan. Both Nancy and Mike are exemplary Catholic leaders in the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic School Board, and serve on the Board’s Aboriginal Committee in addition to many other roles.

John Burroughs is principal of Trinity Catholic High School in Simcoe, belonging to the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. John is respected for the collegial relationships he has established with staff, students, parents and the broader community.

Ted Laxton is principal of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Guelph, Ontario which is part of the Wellington Catholic District School Board. Ted is well known for his diligence in working with others to make his school community a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

CPCO’s four winners will have an opportunity to engage in a four-day program through the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management designed to foster executive leadership in education.

The Learning Partnership will honour all the recipients at a Gala Dinner at the Delta Chelsea Hotel, Toronto on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. For more information on the dinner click here.
