Last week I had the great privilege of attending Canada’s largest Catholic educators’ Conference in Toronto. The When Faith Meets Pedagogy (WFMP) Conference always features exemplary speakers, inspiring liturgies, new and enjoyable liturgical music, interesting workshops and opportunities to connect with colleagues from around the province.
This year’s conference was no exception. The conference theme, One Call to Serve Each Other, began on Thursday evening with a theatrical keynote address from Edwina Gateley. She reminded us that “God is ever hopeful and expectant of us”, and that we must be conscious of this so that it can make a difference in our lives. She challenged us by stating that “we are the critical mass that can make a difference in the world”.
Friday’s celebration of the Eucharist was uplifting. The beautiful music throughout the liturgy and the homily delivered by Fr. Norm Roberts was a wonderful way to begin the day. Many CPCO members were in attendance at the conference, and several are members of the WFMP Planning Committee. CPCO also presented four workshops at the Conference; all of which were well attended.
The deadline to nominate a principal or vice-principal for Canada’s Outstanding Principal Award is fast approaching. Recipients of this award will receive national recognition and amazing professional learning opportunities. What a great way to highlight Catholic leaders and our Catholic schools! Click here for the link to the Learning Partnership website to download the nomination forms. Please submit these to me at CPCO by October 31st.
