PRESIDENT'S JOURNAL

A Time for Everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-3)

“To everything…
There is a season…
And a time to every purpose…”

(Music – Pete Seeger)

This week, CPCO’s executive director, Clara Pitoscia, received and accepted an offer from her school board to return early from her secondment to CPCO to begin a supervisory officer position. Clara’s last day of employment with CPCO will be September 30, 2010. Until that time, Clara will continue to provide leadership to CPCO and assist with transition strategies. The search for a new executive director will begin immediately with the anticipation of having the successful candidate in place for September or earlier.

CPCO’s executive council is working hard to facilitate several staff changes that the coming summer months will bring. We are confident that these changes will bring with them new opportunities to meet the ever-changing demands of serving and advocating for the needs of our members in Ontario’s publically-funded Catholic education system.

As the transition of the CPCO president begins, know that our priority will be to find the best candidates to fill our staffing needs with a focus and commitment to the future.

More information about staffing changes will be made available to you as new CPCO staff are hired.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Bill 16 and the Public Service Restraint Act

Recently, I have heard from several local principal/vice-principal associations reporting that their boards have exempted their members from wage freezes as outlined in Bill 16 and the Restraint Act. Local association leaders and/or CDR’s are encouraged to email me with the status of their board’s decision in this regard.

Upcoming Events

June 18 - Principal/Vice-principal Performance Appraisal and future steps for implementation

June 21 - CPCO conference planning committee appreciation - Windsor
