Through my visits to local associations this year, I have come to realize how vast and diverse our province truly is and I am confident that this diversity provides the core element of our strength as a professional association serving Catholic principals and vice-principals. I have endeavoured throughout my presidency, to keep the membership informed of the work of CPCO in this weekly online journal. Now, 41 journal entries later, I find myself making my last submission since my term as president of CPCO ends on July 11th.
This has been a year with many challenges but also one that has offered hope for the future. From the turmoil of Bill 160 in 1998, which removed principals and vice-principals from teachers’ unions and essentially launched CPCO, to a new 2010 Ministry PPM which establishes an outline for consistent province-wide terms and conditions of employment for principals and vice-principals, our twelve-year history has been one of which to be proud. CPCO under the leadership of president Joe Czaczkowski and the capable executive council for next year, will continue to serve our members in Ontario’s Catholic school boards with decisions and actions that respond to tomorrow’s challenges of public education.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve you as president of the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario this year. It has been a remarkable and rewarding experience. May God continue to bless you in the important work that you do; overseeing the daily education and faith formation of the students and families in your schools. I wish all of you a long, relaxing and safe summer.
Sincerely,
Paul Lacalamita
President 2009-2010
