PRESIDENT'S JOURNAL

CPCO web page developments

Welcome back! Throughout the year I have been promoting the idea that local associations need to review their constitutions in preparation for government initiatives that would recognize principals/vice-principals’ right to negotiate their next employment contract with their school boards. With the advent of PPM 152, it is even more critical that local constitutions ensure that lead negotiators have the authority to act on behalf of their members.

Undoubtedly, well organized local associations supported by a solid constitution will create a foundation for authentic good faith bargaining with local boards in the future. To this end, CPCO’s website now contains several examples of constitutions in the Members’ Private Site. The intent is to allow association leaders and their members to compare/contrast their local constitutions with those of others in the province.

Please let me know if you think you have a constitution that might assist other local associations. Simply email me a copy and CPCO will post it to the site.
Another development on the website is found in the navigation bar. You’ll notice a heading called Resource Library. Here, at your finger tips, you’ll find links to documents referencing many of the current Ministry initiatives.
