Managing H1N1 in Schools

The principals’ role of keeping schools healthy and safe has been ratcheted up with the complexities of our communities dealing with the prevention and management of the H1N1virus in all elementary and secondary schools. The accompanying checklists were provided to boards for communication to principals in schools by the Ministry. It is important that principals work in concert with their boards to reduce risks associated with the spread of the H1N1 virus. CPCO is very interested in hearing from members regarding the developments and challenges that these guidelines pose for school administrators. Please share your concerns/experiences with your local District Representative who will be participating in a Council of District Representatives meeting later this month in Toronto.

Toronto Catholic Elementary P/VP Retired Members’ Dinner

Last week I had the honour of bringing greetings from CPCO to the newly retired members from the Toronto Catholic Elementary Principals’ Association at their retirement dinner. It was a wonderful evening recognizing and celebrating the many gifts and sacrifices of leadership that these retired members have given to their school communities over the course of their careers. One of the questions I will be asking CDRs in the upcoming meeting will attempt to ascertain if and how local associations continue to engage their retired members. Once again, if you have any thoughts about this, please share them with your CDR prior to the November 20-21 meeting.
