Last week, the CPCO executive council met in Toronto for the October executive meeting. This was the first meeting of the executive council since its summer meeting in August. (Your executive is a decision-making body of elected officials who deal with the operations of CPCO). The agenda was packed with CPCO business with a good amount of time being dedicated to preparing for next month’s Council of District Representatives (CDR) meeting in Toronto (Nov. 20-21). More information about the CDR meeting will become available in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, the executive council also met with the chairs of CPCO’s five standing committees to begin planning this year’s work. As it stands, each member of the executive council is assigned to a committee acting as the committee’s liaison. This model of organization is used to establish a mechanism of support for the committees’ work and enhance the flow of communication. Committee members will soon be contacted by their chairs with information about the commencement of their work this year.

CPCO and OPC Joint Executive Meeting

Last Thursday evening, members of the CPCO executive council and professional staff joined their colleagues from the Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) for a joint meeting and social at the OPC office in downtown Toronto. This is the first such meeting ever between the executive councils of the two organizations. The purpose of the event was to exchange information about our organizations (history, governance, legal, common issues) and to establish a collegial working relationship between the two executives. To this end, the meeting was a tremendous success as it generated many ideas for both executives to consider as plans for the future are being discussed.
